Pivot or hinged door: how to decide

Pivot doors suit large entrances with a clean profile. Hinged doors are more adaptable for everyday rooms. How to weigh the two.

WiraDoor pivot door

A pivot door turns on a pivot at the top and bottom of the leaf rather than on hinges along the frame. This allows a larger leaf and a cleaner profile.

When a pivot door fits

Tall, wide entrances, minimalist facades, or openings where the door should read as part of the wall.

When a hinged door fits

Bedrooms, bathrooms and high-traffic areas. Hinged doors are easier to combine with locks, door closers and acoustic requirements.

What to confirm before production

Leaf weight and size, pivot system capacity, pivot position, swing clearance and floor conditions. Settling these early helps the door operate smoothly and accurately once installed.
